What I really want is an old fashioned printed manual I can shove in my camera bag until I have a problem out in the field – then look it up. I don’t want to have to do this online!

I agree with Annette. For the amount paid for this camera, I should be receiving an owner’s manual that I can read and have handy, not having to go onto a very long and complicated website each and every time I need some information or details on how to operate the camera, or worse yet, having to print 197 pages of manual!!! This is a real letdown by Canon, what a way to treat your customers! Shame!!

Agree. I bought this camera while on vacation and didn’t have internet access. I was surprised to find no owners manual in the box. Major fail by Canon!

I totally agree with the above comments. I actually printed the whole 197 page manual not realising how bulky it would be. I am leaving for overseas soon and mindful of limited baggage weight limits and internet access. I do much prefer a hard copy manual. Very, very disappointed in CANNON for not including a reasonable sized manual. I have always purchased CANNON in the past, next time I will ask about the available manual before my pending purchase.

Come on folks, you can do better than this. You have to include a manual with your product. How do you expect us to know the various camera features, especially those of us who are just learning to shoot pics in other than AUTO mode

I do not carry a computer with me when taking pictures. I have been trying to download user manual for 4 hours and still can’t do it. Where is my written owner’s guide. I expect it sent to me no charge.

Really…no manual included? I agree with what everyone above says. If I’m going to go out and practice with this camera so I can use it to its full potential, I am not going to have my computer with me. At this point if you had a compact version of the manual I would be willing to buy it so I could have it in my camera bag (though I shouldn’t have to)….but a 197 pages to print off is absolutely ridiculous. I expected more from your company, Canon!

I saved pdf onto computer and sent to my email address, where I picked it up on my smartphone and saved it onto the phone.
This can then be accessed at any stage, hence you will more than likely have it on person when using the camera and can refer to it at any stage.
Hope thsi helps

I totally agree with all of the above – Canon’s consumers need a compact version to carry around in the filed as well as an extensive one in the box in which the camera comes. So tedious to have to look up all the details on the web time and time again. This was a very poor decision by Canon.

Correction to my previous entry -“filed” should read “field”

I have just bought the camera and know that most cameras dont come with a printed manual which is a real pain! I have tried to bring the manual up on the computer and it has stopped at page 5 of 197. Which site are people finding the manual please? A friend is going to show me how he printed two pages to an A4 and double sided them. But give me the old style booklet any day!!!

What a pain not having a manual included with the product. It certainly limits my ability to get the most out of the camera. Tried donwloading manual but did not succeed. This lack of customer support is very disappointing.

I agree with the comments above. What’s so difficult for a multinational like Canon to understand about supplying a hardcopy User Guide for a sophisticated camera? Just don’t get it!! At the very least, why not provide the means to order one from them?
